After yeasr of using a cheap Givi top box and mounting plate I finally purchased a very good condition s/hand BMW box and plate. It fitted very easily and all was well until I loaded it up a bit. It started to wobble alarmingly and made a horrible rattling sound. After striping the carrier plate apart I was shocked to find fatigue cracks between the rear mounting points. The upper plastic plate is very flimsy and has no real strength on its own. it really is a very poor bit of kit for the price. Notice how the four mounting tubes are held in place by a couple of tack welds.

I managed to cut a repair plate from 14g mild steel

And a friend of mine welded it to the mounting plate, he was tempted to flatten the pressed steel plate as it bends in all directions, we don't know if this is deliberate but it fits the plastic part OK so we left it alone.

It seems OK now, soon know because we are loading up to go camping in Germany.

If your box wobbles it may be worth checking the plate.
