Having sold my airhead yesterday,I had an R90 size space in the garage, so I filled it with a 1967 BSA B40wd, 350cc, 21” front wheel, trials style gearing in the first three gears , ideal for the lanes of Mid Wales. It served its army life in the Maze Prison ,Long Kesh ,Ulster Regt.

Very nice, BUT check its got oil in it before you ride it as it doesnt appear to be scent marking its space :aidan:aidan

I believe one of those was the first bike I ever rode! I was in the Army cadets at school and we went on summer camp to a barracks somewhere near Thetford. One of the exercises was to get us riding these bikes, I was 14/15 then so 1964/5:rob, I managed to start the bike, get going but ended up going through a Nissen hut, the occupants wern't best pleased, on the exit I found the brakes:thumb Cheers,:beerjug:John B
p.s. you have had some cracking bikes, I would have loved that R90

Nice looking bike. It looks like its got a proper oil filter on it, instead of a series of tea strainers. Make sure you change the oil every 1000 miles and use 30 grade oil. Any multi grade synthetic will wash all the crap into the oil ways instead of keeping it in the partical traps. You may need to lower the overall gearing if you use off road.

I’ve had one and a standard B40.
There is a dedicated web site for the WD bikes where a lot of info can be obtained as well as a downloadable wsm ( factory version).
Much better bike than the standard B40 with better electrics and much stronger crank.

Having ridden my Himalayan around the D roads of France, there is something to be said for riding ‘underpowered’ bikes on little roads. Though at 25 bhp, the Himalayan might be seen as a fire breathing monster in comparison.

Enjoy the bike,

Enjoy the bike,

I’ve just done the Taffy Dakar Orienteering Rally in South Wales on my Himalayan, great fun, surprising how much punishment the Himi can take.
