I am looking at going to the Regensburg and Passau area with the view of taking a couple of rides into into Czech Republic. What I am looking for is a good base accommodation with food/drink or a good town base any experience of this area would be greatly appreciated.

On my lap of Germany, we stayed in Passau. At the time, the town was portrayed as a centre of immigration, with murderers stalking every street. No such thing.
The last time we were in the area, we stayed over the CZ border at Ceske Krumlov, using the Pension Hubertus, where the bikes were parked in an adjacent courtyard behind some huge gates ............ https://en.svhubertus.cz/
Previously, when we tried Passau, the Danube was playing tricks, so the riverside was out of bounds due to flooding. The place feeds off river cruiser visitors.

Been to Czech Republic several times, normally stay in Ceske Krumlov, lots of nice roads around that area.
