Mapscource update problem

I've got the BMW Nav III with City Europe NT V8 pre-installed and mapscource V6.9.1 on my PC. I've downloaded mapscource V6.12.2 and installed as per instructions, but when I open mapscource it tells me my map is out of date and then the programme closes.

Has anyone managed this update with City Europe V8 NT.

I've got CN8NT and recently upgraded to the latest version of Mapsource, V6.12.2 no problem.

Are you just trying to run the program from the desktop icon, or are you trying to open a map from explorer?

I'm trying to open it from the desktop icon.

Come back from hols, connect up the Quest, open mapsource and it gives me the message that V8 needs to be unlocked (cos I never bothered as it was too expensive at the time), I click on "skip", a "remind me later" option appears, but before I can select it the program closes

Upgraded to 6.12.2 before I went away. Don't remember it doing it then, as I downloaded maps onto the Quest.

They're not trying to pull a fast one making people upgrade to the latest maps are they?

Any ideas?
