A quick one for the 'seasoned' travellers....

On a night sailing from Portsmouth, does the duty free open straight away, or will I be captive to the inflated prices and the early closing of the bar (in which case I'll carry a slab of something suitably refreshing)?

Cheers,

There isn't such thing as duty free anymore in the EU so my advice is bag yourself a bottle of something at Lidl or Aldi and take it on board :beerjug:

:nenau i bought a litre bottle of bacardi for £9.50 and ciggy's for friends=£18.70 x200 on board.
export strenth bacardi as well. jan 07
granted if your goin via de panne's in belgium the ciggies/baccy is cheaper.
if not items are still cheaper on boat.

Thanks for that.

I'd be the last one to promote heavy, prolonged drinking as a way of passing long hours on a boat... (because that would just be WRONG, hey kids?), but I can't help but think of Ian Botham and the like who used to push an ever increasing record for tinnies on the UK/Oz flight...!

Heaven forbid we start something like that on the Bilbao route!

Out of interest, does anyone know who Both's partners in crime were, or the details?
