Is the new name given buy Highland council in their infinite wisdom for the Isle of Skye meaning The Misty Isle
This comes into force on Thursday

Gaelic for Isle of Skye is actually An t-Eilean Sgiathanach
Cheo means Mist / smoke

I will now be operating as Cheo Oonyack meaning Misty windscreens. I can't see much in the way of business opportunities here when drivers can't see out of there windaes because they are all misted up and there is a smoking ban in commercial vehicles. Accidents will soar I tell ye:rob

I saw this in a paper today and thougth that it was a wind up cos we hadnae heard anything form the King of Skye... :nenau

Cheo or ceo (Irish Gaelic) also means fog.:rob

Perhaps the worthy civil servant who thought up the the new name decided that magical mist was too romantic and fog more aptly described the weather on Skye. :augie :augie

Or maybe that's what his/her brain is permanently in.:confused: :confused:
