Hi - searched all the threads but non the wiser.

Got a Kenwood TK3101 and a ICOM IC-F22SR.

With both on channel 3, the Kenwood can transmit and be receive and heard OK on the ICOM.

But, if you transmit on the ICOM, you dont hear anything on the Kenwood although the transmit light does go on.

I've proven the connections by swapping the ICOM for a second TK3101 and 2-way comms work fine.

I know there is some reprogramming facility on the ICOM, I have the manual for the ICOM but dont know what to do and know nothing about radios generally.

Help!

Normally only channels 1 and 8 are out of the box, means they are normally the only channels that will work with other radios.
The kenwood is designed with side channels pre programmed, you would have to program any other make of radio other than kenwood to these side channels

I would say the Icom needs to be reprogrammed but this will need to be done a via PC with the right software. If you send us the Icom Doug our Service Manager could get that sorted for you no probs

Sounds like the sub channels are set differently. The kenwood usually uses sub chan 13 when switched to channel 3, you can change the sub channel but you need a manual as it's a complex set of button pushes/ power on/offs etc.

No idea about the ICOM but if you can set it to 3-13 it'll probably talk/listen to the Kenwood.

These are the fequencies for the kenwood with side/sub channel

CH1 446.00625MHz 94.8Hz
CH2 446.09375MHz 88.5Hz
CH3 446.03125MHz 103.5Hz
CH4 446.06875MHz 79.7Hz
CH5 446.04375MHz 118.8Hz
CH6 446.01875MHz 123.0Hz
CH7 446.08125MHz 127.3Hz
CH8 446.05625MHz 85.4Hz
CH9 446.00625MHz 107.2Hz
CH10 446.09375MHz 110.9Hz
CH11 446.03125MHz 114.8Hz
CH12 446.06875MHz 82.5Hz
CH13 446.04375MHz 132N

See page 16 of the icom user guide

http://www.usersmanualguide.com/icom/land_mobile__vhf_and_uhf_portable_transceivers/ic-f22sr

You basically set the icom to match the other radio

1 turn off power
2 press upper and lower buttons and hold in
3 keep holding then turn power on
4 select the channel you want (not 16)
5 push upper button only and hold…. Will bleep to start scan
6 press transmit button on the other radio…the icom will then auto scan to that signal
7 when a clear signal is received on the icom both radios are matched
8 press the upper to lock
9 turn off then back on

You’re done :thumb2

Hope this helps
