Kaokaland Raid
15 teams compete over two weeks in the Kaokaland Raid; the team that arrives last at each evening’s checkpoint is eliminated as a competitor. This is not the end of the event as teams eliminated are used to make things difficult for competing teams, all in a spirit of good camaraderie. Exact details of the routes and events of the competition are “Top Secret”. Riding skills navigation and common sense will see you through; this is not a speed event. High speeds are discouraged as the Kaokaland ecosystem is very fragile and we do not wish to cause irreparable damage.
The first raid is planned for mid January 2008 Competitors will be informed of the exact dates by the middle of November 2007. Expect to do a lot of riding in this wonderful remote area of northern Namibia.
Each competitor needs to be in good health and should be able to walk at least 2 kilometers at a good pace.
Funds raised by the teams go to the No More Landmines Trust (charity no. 1110770)
