I drove this road while on holiday on the Côte d'Azur in June and while reasonably short, just 10 km, it has plenty to get the adrenaline flowing and the sphincter twitching if you get it wrong.

Take the N98 from Port Grimaud or the D98 then N98 from St. Tropez and head towards Toulon. Past Cogolin you encounter some twisties that make this road enjoyable in its own right. However, approx 1 km before La Môle there is an airfield on the left. Turn left onto the D27 bordering the south-western end of the runway ( beware of low flying aircraft ) and set brain to stunned for the next 10 km to Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer.

The road is dual track but only just and consists of unprotected mountain switchbacks for Km after Km. There are a couple of narrow bridges to beware of at the start with signs up showing directional precedence but from what I saw, everyone simply ignores this, so take care. Take particular care on the mountain itself as the road is fairly narrow, with unguarded drops and breathtaking views. Don't let your attention wander for an instant or it will hurt badly.

It is a great road and immensely technical, but stay safe.

Enjoy. Bonne Route.
