Well after a recent trip (first week in June) was completely ruined by a needless and most un-entertaining trog up through France, a few of us have decided to try again and salvage what should've been a terrific jaunt.

So at 0800 hrs five of us will be heading for Plymouth to take the ferry to Santander. This time the whole week will be spent in the North of Spain. Two nights are booked in at the Hotel del Oso just outside of Potes (courtesy of a recent trip report, can't think whose it was just now but many thanks), and the idea being we'll keep heading West through the hills using the green routes from the Michelin map for a week and then probably take the A8 (I think) back across the north to Santander on the last day.

This trip would not have come about had we not spent a few days in Picos and been spoiled rotten for riding, only to have it ruined by the French roads. We just had to go back ! Sadly only five out of the previous eight can afford the time or the funds to do this one which is a shame cos the group we had riding together got on fantastically well.

Hoping to take some pics this time ! Y'all take care now!

I agree with you to a certain extent. The first couple of days on our way to the Pyrenees in July were a waste of time - Zeebrugge to Troyes & Troyes to Limoges.

Only once we got to Perigeux heading southwards through the Lot/Dordogne did the holiday become fun. Next time we'll catch the ferry or Motorail...

Having said that, the route back was great - Carcassone, Millau, Le Puy, Briancon/French Alps, Annecy and the Vosges mountains.

It's just northern France which was boring - the east and southwest were fantastic :D
