Hi all,

Looking at getting Monorail down to south of France next year and wondered if anyone would like to share the bay?:hide

Date will be around 15th September 08 one way from Calais to either Nice or Narbonne.

Should cost approx £250 each if bay has 2 bikes:clap

Regards

SG

How many bikes can you get in a bay?

We're a party of three and the dates could be about right.

Not a bay as such, just the space a car would take up. The Calais service charges the same for a bike as for a car, unless there are two bikes booked together and they go side by side and they kindly let two bikes go for the price on 1.

I met a couple of blokes on bikes in the Channel Tunnel shuttle the other day. They had used a motorail service from the south of France to Paris rather than Calais. Calais is less than three hours from Paris and apparently the cost was less than compared to goign to the Channel.

They travelled on a different train from the bikes but had used it twice and really rated it.

Don't know which train service they used, but sounded interesting.

True. Have been Paris to Narbonne and return a few times. It is much cheaper than Calais even when you factor in the riding time/fuel from the Channel. Also much better if you cross the channel somewhere other than Calais/Boulgone/Dunkerque such as Le Havre.

Plus you get some time in "Gay Paree" although hanging about Gare d'Austerlitz for the passenger bit of the Narbonne service is quite an eye opener. Some of the weirdos on show make the drunks and vagrants we muster at Charing Cross late at night look very normal.
