hi could someone tell me what fuel mileage i should be geting with my 98 1100 GS it seems to be a bit low 170 miles to a tankfull

MPG

The same with mine. Then I balanced the carbs, adjusted the trhotels cables and now I'm gerring 10 miles per liter. Big difference. Yosi

Fuel Milage

I get 220 miles to a tank, I mean reserve or till the light comes on.
I would get anything lower than 200 checked out, myself.
I assume Yosi meant the injectors.

I get about 200 miles to a tank, thats burning round the A2/M25 at 80-90mph (depending on traffic). My 1100GS only has the 5 speed box, so it sits at about 5000rpm most of the time. does this seem reasonable?

if you have not owned the bike from new check the tank for filler

the bike may have been dropped, tank bent, filled and resprayed

if the tank is steel then a magnet will help

thanks wessie, when i bought it the guy said that he'd had a new steel tank from BMW to replace the original plastic one. the tank is pristine so i doubt its been for a trip down the road, probably more to do with all the m-way work it has to do - a 6th gear would probably cheer the MPG up no end.
