Three mates and myself are planning a trip in the Alps some where between the last two weeks in August and the first two in September.Overnight stops are going to be.................................................................................. Troyes,Annecy,Chamonix,Davos,Merano,Innsbruck,Munich,Luxemburg.....ish.
I am wondering whether to prebook all the accomodation or get it en-route?
I know there are plenty of small guest houses/Hotels in the villages that we will be passing and most probably campsites, but, what would the average cost of a nights B&B be in private hotels/guesthouses just to give me an idea. Thanks all.

have always pre booked, August is busy time but I cannot comment on stopping where you like as not done it for years, be prepared to spend time hunting around where as we like to know where we are stopping, ride in , book in, shower and beer:D

used Hotel Cresta Sun last June in Davos

about £45.00 half board with drinks.

Cheers,
I know what you are saying.Nice to have the secure knowledge of a place to stay and not to fussy what time you get there but there again be nice to have the flexibility to stay some place a bit longer..........................HhMmmm

Why not give us a try, we're on the Grandes Alpes route, situated 8 hairpin bends up from the D902 on the outskirts of Morzine.

B&B accommodation [evening meals also possible], secure garaging, bike washing facilities for your bike, washing machine for your clothes and a stunning view from our hot tub whilst you soak your body after a good days riding. What could be better? Oh yes, a beer in both hands as well!

[Discounts for all UKGSer.com tossers]

Look forward to meeting some of you one day out here in sunny Morzine.
