If anyone is thinking of visiting the Grossglockner this year, this is what it looked like in June 06.

The trek to the top was a bit hairy but well worth the view.

Enjoy:aidan

Guilty as charged

It's a fair cop

I've had the CBR for 12 years,

R1200GS on order due mid April.

I hope I enjoy it as much as the Honda.

Nice shots...............CBR1000 ??

Nice weather in September... 05

IIRC you can go up and down it all day. But, if you're going from the south, can you go to Zell am See, and then back south to Lienz etc without paying the €18 again?

Yeah OK the Grossglocker is good for a day out but here in middle England we've got the A5 - ever tried thaT???????????????

It was stunningly good in July last year. My favourite road ever (well, at the moment anyway).

I would have loved to see it like that!

We rode up on the 21st July this year in snow!! It was raining a little and a bit misty at the bottom but by the time we got a third of the way up it turned to snow and then got progressively worse until we got to the top.

By the time we got to the restaurant there was an inch of snow on the outside tables! We waited until it eased and then pressed on and rode over to the other side - fortunately the Weather wasn't too bad that side for our ride to Winklern.

Definately want to go back again for another try!

I rode up there in August. The glacier at the top looked a sad sight, a grey smudge what with the global warming and that. Superb road but very touristy. I preferred the quieter Timmelsgoch which I rode up earlier in the day.

Ah, we were staying in Obergurgl so I rode up Timmelsgoch at about 9am, not reaching Grossglockner until mid afternoon. I met a Brit up there on a sportsbike, halfway around touring Eastern Europe. I was the first fellow countryman he'd spoken to in weeks. Nice pic.
