Oryx Kit

I've currently got a 4 year old 650 GS that I use as a winter bike, to try and keep my 1150 salt free. After 30,000 plus miles it's looking a bit sad but it was my first bike after passing my test and we're kind of attached to each other.

I was thinking about giving it a make-over, it's cosmetically challenged but mechanically sound. I like the look of the Touratech Oryx variant but it's not the cheapest upgrade you can buy.

Has anyone out there bought one of the variants or looked into buying one in a serious way? If so can it be built by someone mechanically incompetent or does it need the extra expense of a professional doing the job?

I wouldn't mind some of the boards opinions (polite ones) before I contact Touratech properly, or decide to go for a respray and only adding a few trick bits.

Regards, Fatbloke.

Unless you want a bike which is substantially lighter than the F650GS, you'll be paying a lot of dosh for the 'ORYX' conversion kit.

'English' information and prices here but not as many pictures.

There's some information on the "Super-Moto" page of my F650 website, where an American guy did a nice conversion to his wifes F650GS, with new rims etc. (URL below).
