adventure 990 or 950?????

hi all, im looking at buying an adventure but dont know whether to go for a 950 or a 990??, now i knwo the 990 is fuel injected and the 950 is carbarated, but thats about it

any other difrences between the 2, which is better???????:D
 
I have tried the 950 and the 990 ,the 990 is stronger in the n=midrange and easier to start,the carbs can be a problem,though when working well are smoother than the EFI. I have a New 990SM which is the best Bike I've ever had!! The EFI is a bit twitchy/switch like but that is solved by using a 16 tooth front sprocket .Otherwise have a go ,the 990 comes with a gel seat which is more comfortable .If you get the 950 check the starter sprag recall has been done ,noisy,difficult starting is a clue it hasnt.Also try the SM I bet you will love it!!:thumb
 
I had a Adv 950 S for 2 years.

Never failed to start so don't know where this starting 'issue' has come from.

I tried the 'new' Adv 990 and didn't like it,as the FI was very snatchy after the perfect carbs.

That's when I ended up getting a GSA instead.


The 990 is a good bike,but I much prefer the 'harder' 950/950 S.

The 990 is a bit more powerful,but the 950 has a much nicer delivery.


No silly low gel seats etc.

The 990 S is now only as tall as the orig standard 950 and the 950S is taller yet.

Wish I had kept mine :

bit like checking on this forum whether to buy an 1150 or 1200 !
