Anybody know where I can source a crossbar for a 950SE like this in the UK ?

KTM don't list one as such.

This is from Sommer-KTM in Germany but the postage charge is a bit silly for 1 small item.

Ta

When is she being delivered ? ;)

Leaving Austria today so a week or so-just about when I get back from the US and A and have 11 days off.

Will try and get over to Brittany for a play/running in session.

Luggage already partly sorted and got a great deal on some Akras.

So it will be Groundhog Day :

I thought you'd been mentioning those a bit :D I've gotta admit I'm still thinking about it, sounds like a barmy bike, I'm just waiting for a price to pop up for that big tank, then all I need to do is figure out a bit of wind protection, and off I go :thumb2

Must... Resist... I'm still keen on the adventure though.

P.S. I think you'll find Touratwat do one for £21.73, which is the same one for the GS actually. Yep, I've really been thinking about it.

Tank is supposedly about £400 but not sure about postage.

BUT I'm in Sydney most months so could easily have it shipped internally to hotel there.

To be honest it's a stunning bike for £5995 ! (I paid less as no VAT for me).

Crikey-the EXC 450 etc costs that !!!

I've sorted some panniers from my dealer and have just ordered a rear rack from Black Dog Cycle Works to be collected next week when I'm in Dallas.

Just need to have a play on it before next May when it'll make it's UK debut in ditch somewhere near Baskerville Hall.

£400's not too bad really, considering it's 30 litres, I know they're meant to be a bit thirsty but that's a decent amount of fuel in any language. I'm waiting on a reply from them about postage now.

My problem is that all the KTM dealers are miles away, so I'll have to have a ring round and a day out to have a play on one. Sounds like it may be worth it though.

I saw one of the guys on the KTM forum's just stuck some SM wheels on one, bit beside the point but it looks beautiful.

There are 4 SEs left at that price and then they are gone.

Apparently KTM won't make any more as the next version will have a lower seat for Scottish Royalty, etc

So could become quite sort after (assuming you are 6' ish or above)

I'm 5'11", but I've got big feet so I should be able to tip-toe on one foot at least :D Trouble is finding a place where I can test ride one now, as Bristol's a mission for me if I end up not buying one (I don't mind riding it home though, as long as there are plenty of petrol stations on the way :blast ). Couple up in London but it's not the greatest place to try an SE.

Take a chance, go for it. I bought one today in a moment of madness. Couldnt have test ride as they only had one in stock. I know the 950 engine though and am happy with it. Super enduro looks like a slimmed down no nonsense adventure. Im 6"2 and couldnt flat foot it either but im hoping in time it settles down a bit or i'll start taking the mrs out for dinner more. Now they are reduced I couldnt resist. I get it next monday. If I can get a half decent insurance quote. Do ktm have their own insurance? I am also looking for some decent hand guards and an alarm system if anyone knows of any??

I have to feel good about what i've done now as paid a deposit:) so be brave and join me in a silly impulsive purchase:) :beerjug::beerjug: Regards. Richard

oh and where was this good deal on akras? anybody?

Great bike !!!

PM sent re cheap Akras.
If you don't plan to take it off road all the time stick some Pirelli Scorpions on it-the OE tyre on the Adv 990.

It handle's much better on the tarmac.

I'm going to stick the Karoo Ts back on before heading to Wales in the Spring for the Baskerville do.

I've just put these handguards on mine :

.

Very strong and look great.

I can get a good deal on some Akras.Probably around the £500 plus P & P.

Hi im here! Thanks for the reply. I ride on knobblies now on my xr so i'll see how i get on with the karoo's. Im going to be heading to wales myself to live for a while hence buying the bike. I will keep my eye out for a set of spare adventur wheels and tires then. Are those hand guards ktm's own or acerbis? They look good whatever they are. I might make an appaerance myself at this baskerville do if its not a secret handshake event. How did the normal pipes sound? I think i'll keep those till my first service then re-think if I get the urge for akra pipes. Nice to know there are other owners out there as I havent seen any on the road yet. Regards. Richard

They are KTM handguards from Powerparts catalogue.

No idea how standard bike sounded as Akra on from new !

Come to the Baskerville-we need some orange presence in amongst the tossers !

You should have done a deal on the Akro's when you bought the bike.. I paid £545plus free fitting and they also do a slight retune on the carbed 950's all done when i had first service ...Saying that I bought mine last Dec and at the time they where selling 950 super moto's with a free set of Akro's :tears

Top bike I use mine for allsorts ;Trail riding ,road ,and the odd rally, rode it up to Skye a couple of weeks ago with soft panniers and my camping gear average range per tank around 110 miles from fuel light to light ...light come on with 1.5 to 2 lts fuel still left in tank ...

Photo's
Rydale rally bike number 7 and skye trip loaded up ...:thumb2
