Dommie, front end

depends what you want to do.

mines used 80% road - so i drained the oil - refilled 1/2 full with 20/50 engine oil and a bit of ATF

removed the spring spacers at the top to drop the front a bit

regreased and very slightly over tightened the head bearings to try and stop the loose feeling

new front tourance
reposition the fork brace and make sure its bolted up firmly

its good now :thumb

it'll never be a telelever - but its just different - you'll get used to it

Cheers Phil, will start off by tightening the fork brace.... Not to worried about height, it just seems a bit vague sometimes, thats my only downer at the momet, it's great here on west cork roads.

lowering stops the twisting - and the vagueness

thicker oil stops the 'floaty' vagueness

tightening head brngs stops the twitchy vagueness

and i just had a look - dropped the yokes down the forks an inch too

theres lots of different vagues - be more specific :D :D

Going out tomorrow with a m8, will do the Healey Pass with him (in the rain probably). Then I'll be more specific:D

Don't be too harsh on it Richie, the Beara roads will kill most suspension units, just an overhaul on the front end and maybe some thicker oil might be enough - sure dems roads a make most forks and shocks weep if ridden well enough :aidan

We did the ride in the pouring rain. 50 mile round trip with my m8 on a FJ1200. Tightened up the brace this morning and checked tyre pressures. It is not too bad. In fact what needs doing is securing the front fairing as it shakes about like no ones business...

Heres a photo, the FJ is just coming up the hill.
