Unmounting the heated grips

Hi

Last year I had a light crash on the right side. A few weeks later I needed to turn the heated grips on and suddenly appeared a cloud of smoke from the wires. I changed the damaged ones, but the problem persisted. It is a short circuit somewhere in the right handlebar.

Now the question is, how can I remove the resistance? Is it "welded" in the rubber? I hope it won't be necessary to change the whole grip.

Thank you
Daniel

With BM grips you can peal the rubber back and get to the wire.

You will wreck the grip though so you'll have to buy two replacement unheated throttle grips and a can of hairspray (to use as a lubricant to get the new grip on).

It's a delicate operation so go slowly!!!!

There is a thread somewhere about changing the worn rubbers on an 1150 (I assume they are the same). Ask the dealers or the spares places and they'll tell you it can't be done :blast
