Popped into the local dealer to have a look today....like this, might consider one, although prices I was quoted seem to differ from what you've been mentioning on here, maybe I was too busy lusting after the bike and not paying attention to what I was being told....

Very nice.

If I may ask a question, and I may be missing the point, but my understanding is that they're full on enduro race bikes. For c. £6k. That require engine out servicing every 10 hours. So, if your fairly well to do, have the off-road skills and need, then excellent. Otherwise, other than enjoying the aethestic of the bike, they would appear to be of little real world use to mere mortals such as myself.

Is that about right, in a very succinct nutshell of course?

THIS IS HOW THE SERVICING WORKS:rob

First 2 hours change oil and oil filter, and check all other components

FIRST 10 hours, change oil and filter, replace air filter, check valve clearances after the first 10 hours and then every 20 hours on,

Extended 70 hours, basic service plus service the engine, change the brake fluid in all systems, service front forks, service the spring strut.

As I see it. The servicing the dealer will carry out will be the first 2 and the 10 hour service I will carry out the 20 hour services and the dealer will carry out the 70 hour services.

70 hours is a long time riding on the track. Forget the bike if you are going to ride on the road. Its a bike you need to trailer to events or trail rides.

For me I'll properly have the bike out once a month average, which would be probably 6 hours riding so every 11 months it will need a full service. I have my 08 1200 adventure for all my other riding

I rode Jefferies BMW demo this morning for 45 mins on Baildon Moor............

Managed to lose the rear numberplate etc:blast:eek:

Good bike, handles like a scalpel on steroids

Hard to wheelie, due to long swingarm and so traction will be awesome

Tried a few trails and it was awesome................much like a KTM 450EXC and that's a grand cheaper:p

I'll wait to see how they pan out

Seems a lot of dosh, maybe they'll come cheaper if they don't sell

For a competition bike thats actually very good, in a way.

if you were using the bike for events then the actual service intervals would be reduced, as you'd be checking the bike over yourself before each event. Nothing worse than getting a DNF because you haven't bothered to check things over, and something simple breaks.,

....and while your at it you'd probably drop the oil out and replace, and maybe the same with the air filter.

FWIW my old husqvarna's have oil change recommendations of every 3 hrs of competition use....

Hey Garfield

Did you make it down to the Scottish Enduro today (Sun) at Yarrowford. The X450's
were getting dirty and air. I've got some photos when I figure out how to post 'em.
...mutter probably in the FAQ... :)
