Thursday the 15th of may will be remembered by everyone in the motorcycle community and beyond, as the day that road racing legend Robert Dunlop lost his life following a high speed accident during practice for the 2008 North West 200 road races in portrush co. Antrim.

Robert was an exceptional man who overcame many injuries during his racing career and also a man who showed he had the courage, determination and self belief to continue his passion for motorcycle racing.

Robert has given us many exciting memories during his road racing career, the sight of the flying 4, the glimpse of the black and white helmet and that distinctive style that could be none other than Robert Dunlop. He gave everything in support of motorcycle road racing and to this end it is now our turn as the motorcycle community to give a little something back.

A fund raising night will be held in the Carrickdale hotel between Newry & Dundalk on Saturday the 29th of November at 7.30pm sharp. The "Robert Dunlop commemoration night" will be a function designed to commemorate Roberts’s life and to help raise as much funding as possible. All proceeds will go to the Robert Dunlop trust fund and will be administered by Roberts’s family, Wife Louise sons William, Daniel and Michael. The night will start with a chat show with some of road racings top stars. An auction to include some very interesting racing memorabilia such as

Michael Dunlop’s crossan gsxr 1000 Suzuki race bike

Various leathers

Pictures featuring Robert Dunlop

Various items of racing clothing

A one off specially commissioned Robert Dunlop commemorative trophy with signed certificate from the Dunlop family will also be raffled with tickets purchased on the night. Music and food will also be provided.

We would appeal to all club members and fans of Robert to put in a very special effort to support the Robert Dunlop trust fund.

Tickets for the event will cost £ 15.00 stg or € 20.00 euro and are available to buy Online at TheVisorShop.com , Anyone who may not be able to attend the night or perhaps living overseas who wishes to make a voluntary contribution to the Robert Dunlop trust fund can do so online below by card and at the same time be entered in a raffle for a minimoto sprayed up in Roberts famous Crossan Yellow & black colours.

Your efforts are greatly appreciated and without your help and commitment this night would not be possible. One final thought, the motorcycling community have lost one of the finest road racers we will probably ever see, a man of determination, talent, and commitment, a man who also gave so much to his chosen sport, the Dunlop family have lost a husband, a father, a companion, there best friend. The very least we can do is help.

Thank you for your support
