Could not find any previous threads on this, so apologies if l missed them. Returned from a off-road Morocco tour a couple of weeks ago with the front rim bent in couple of places and needs replacing. Have been recomended to fit Exel rims as the stock rims are on the soft side.
Has anyone else experienced this problem before and are Exel rims the best option ?

Cheers

If youre planning to do a lot of off-roading, you might want to consider going with narrower rims too. Apart from being a bit soft, the stock ones are quite wide - so they present a bigger target to rocks, and the tyre cant protect them as much....

The US dollar has tipped the wrong way now - but you could get really solidly-made wheels from the US. Excel rims & oversized spokes.

Another make to consider is behr saxess - I have these rims on my HP2 and I know of quite a few competition teams that use them (a pro team is where I bought my wheels from).

They look pretty damn strong and mine are fitted with oversized spokes

It has the wrong hub fitted here, but you get the idea:

Sorry I don't anything about exel rims but if you want yours rebuilt look here:

... or do a search on wheel building and quite a few threads will pop up.

Or ask the question someone might know?

hi mate a long story,i got a set of 17in SM wheels for the SE,look great but handle crap so i decided to sell them on the KTM site and get another set of standard wheels, this brokenlegs guy offered to swap the rims for 21-18 ones and he keeps the 17in rims no cash involved, good deal i think so i meet him on the m6 one day seems like a nice bloke well known on the ktm forum and i'm a trusting sort of chap he takes the wheels i did not get his address(doh)couple of weeks pass and he tells me he's done the rim swap and he has put them in the post,i go off to portugal offroading get back no wheels, when i ring him he says that the wheels were sent back to him cos they were not collected from post office,ok send them again and i'll pay the extra post no no it's ok i'll do it he say's i think nice bloke, couple of weeks go by i ring him, been to busy at work will post soon as,few more weeks go by i ring him, wheels too heavy for wife to take to post office, couple of weeks ect ect ring him and no answer, keep trying after a while i put a post on the KTM forum asking if he is a ripoff merchant, his mates come out in force defending him saying if i've got a problem go round and sort it face to face i say ok tell me where he live's,it went a bit quiet then, also a few guy's posted bad experience in dealing with him,he then PM's me like nothing has happened and another guy PM's me to say that he will bring my wheels down for me when he picks his up,i ring the second guy he tells me he collected his wheels and brokenlegs did not give him mine, twat won't answer my calls to his mobile so i asked around and got his home number and address and rang him up,he said he would ring back in 30mins,surprise surprise no call, i ring back no answer so i leave a message saying i know where you live and i'm coming up tomorrow for my wheels or the £500 i paid for them,2 mins later the phone rings ,hi loz how ya doing blah blah wheels will be ready
i go up there (230 each way) knock on the door he opens it hands me the wheels and closed the door without saying a word the prick

i strap the wheels on the back of the GS and go back down to cheedle and go out on piss with some friends, nice ride home the next day job done, funny thing is the wheels are very nice and would not hesitate in recommending him if he sent them back promptly so to this day i don't know if he is a ripoff merchant or just a complete cnut

Thanks to you as well, sorry to read your later message. Glad it was sorted out in the end but 6 months is well out of order. Glad you got back to me with the warning.

Cheers
