Hi Folks,

I will be collecting a 4 month old pup soon(Dogue de Bordeaux), large/strong breed so training is a must. Anyone know of a good dog trainer in the Cork area who does puppy classes etc?

Call the Irish Guide Dogs in cork and explain your query to them. They will put you in contact with a good trainer. We puppy walk for them & they have some shit hot trainers there. It needs to start from day one to make sure the dog knows who is the boss.

I found a few advertised in the Golden Pages, just wondering if any of the PRC tossers had come across a good dog trainer.

I've had dogs for years, at present we have 2 Cairn terriers and a 21 year old mongrel (yes, 21 human years) he is on the way out and I was looking for another dog. The DdBordeaux is so strong that it has to be well trained.

Hi Kevin,
My missus volunteers with guide dogs in the kennels, i will get her to ask around and get back to you.
all the best

I've heard of such things. "Louie" arrived last Sat....some puppy :thumb

Brought Rocky to vet and he said he's only blind, deaf and has artritis. There some more time left in him, We are worried about his quality of life......... we'll see in a couple of months.

Vets in the UK keep lists of classes.

Well done for looking, I meet alot of dogs/owners that would benifit from better training and some owners that would benifit from a visit to the vets:augie

I've just managed to get my puppy into a training class, they are well worth it if only for the chance for the puppy to socialise with a different pack. Most classes we tried locally were full and we ended up travelling to the class we took our old dog to (now some 45 miles away).

I've got some details from the lads on this site. (Great Forum, covers a multitude)

I'm hoping to get to my Vets tonight to get pup his innoculations. I will follow up with trainers once he get the all clear.

I collected the pup on Sat and it was the first time he had a collar put on him let alone a lead. I guess he weights about 10-12kgs at the moment, so I need to start basic training asap, otherwise we'll be in trouble.

Many thanks for the info

10-12k thats chunky, how old is he (edit sorry just read 4 months)? Sounds like he is going to be a big dog!

Good luck with the classes:thumb2 And don't forget the pictures of him:thumb2

Last night he weighed 15kgs (16weeks old). There is a stud dog in Wexford that weighs 78kgs .... Will upload pics when my home PC gets fixed.

Cad is anim an madra ?

I called him "Louie", thought I'd give him a friendly name,at times they can look a little bit fierce. I was going to call him Titan but went with Louie, he's looking forward to meeting 'Buddy' :comfort

We are well overdue a :beerjug: I am still nursing a dose of the flu, as per half of the country.
