Rattley Tappets

Not too familiar with what the noise of a twin F650 engine should sound like but the one I just bought recently, 2002 with 11K on the clock,seems very tappety. Do they all sound this way and if not is it a messy job to do the tappets.

... this is either a typo or you've been sold a pup, because if it's a 2002 bike then it's a single cylinder as the F650GS Twin wasn't produced until 2008

The single's do make a fair bit of mechanical noise, but like any other machine they need regular attention, this would include adjusting the tappets; so have it serviced or DiY, they're a bit fiddly but quite straightforward. Try F650.co.uk or F650.com for more detailed advice

Ooops, I didnt take much notice of the number of cylinder heads when I bought it but she has 2 spark plugs (twin spark I assume) but it does have two exhaust manifolds ,
??
