A fellow Ex Pat here has an interesting ww2 relic,

A genuine German ww2 c.plath drum sextant.

His farther was in based in Breman Germany after the 2nd WW, and bought this, allegadly from a U Boat!

My friend is hoping someone can give some advice etc, and possibly the value.

I've got a set of German binoculars in their case given to my Grandfather whom was a Merchant Navy captain in WW2 by the commander of a U-boat (which surfaced after being damaged by depth charges) as a thank you for picking up him and his remaining crew.
Sadly my Grandfather died when I was young and I only know the very basic outline of the story.
I am going to research this one day and try and find out more.
Although they are a family heirloom so to speak I would love to return them to the family of their original owner.

If you know the serial number of the U-boat, you'll find lots of information about it on U-boat.net
