The Last Enemy
....is a brilliant book about class and the levelling effect of war. We "did" it at school and I read it again a few years later - still very moving. Definitely one of my favourite books.
A few years ago I was lost on my 1150R and stumbled onto this memorial in a downpour. For 5 minutes the sun came out and I stood in amazement that I had found the memorial to one of my heroes. Got back on the bike and the heavens opened and the memorial disappeared into the background mist.
