Im planning a solo ride form London to John O groats in one very long day, then across the top of scotland, down the middle, over to west and along the coast down to Skye.

Wild camping, photography and beer.

Leave London 24th Sept, return the following Tuesday.

Tips, ideas and anyone fancy it?:)

If you're camping at JOG, the campsite is right on the seafront, only a couple of hundred yards from the 'Seaview' hotel (local pub). Wild camping opportunities around JOG are a bit limited. However, if you want to be alone (with no access to beer, toilets, water, etc), I know a track at Dunnet Head (15 miles West of JOG) where you'll be able to camp in isolation with good views.
It's a bit of a steep (but short) track, mind you. Camper vans can't get up there......:thumb

Plenty of opportunities for wild camping on the North and West coasts, it's always worth investigating little dirt tracks to find somewhere to camp. More often than not you'll then be the only person in the landscape, if you do that.
Beer at Melvich, Bettyhill, Strathy, Tongue, Melness and Durness on the North coast.

Many thanks. Im gona try a do the run up from London to JOG in one go, so will do a camp site of first night. Beer, oh man.... just found my first stop.

May now do 1 nite campsite then 1 nite wild.
