Fitting risers to the bike seems quite straightforward in the instructions (dont the instructions always make it seem easy)

But I can't see how to remove the right hand mounting bolt for the existing riser.

In pic below, Bolt A needs to come out, but plate B fouls the bolt and I can't see how to get it out. As I'm going to be fitting risers, Bolt A is going to be replaced by a longer bolt...

What does plate B do anyway?

Any tips?

Ta muchly.

All I can say is that it is possible because I did it, but can't remember how :D 'B' is the steering lock I think.

I seem to remember there is a larger washer on the bolt, perhpas try to leave the washer in place against the yoke and remove the bolt.

Have you tried putting the bars on the opposite lock?

Edit - also noticed it looks like you still have the front mudguard on, I think it is much easier with it off.

David - Thx for the response.

Tried on full lock both ways, and variations thereof. Plate B certainly seems to get in the way and cannot see how the bolt can be removed, or a longer one put in.

Front fender was off for the fitting session last night. Was re-assembled after I gave up, and photo taken this morning in daylight.

Guess will give it another go at the weekend in daylight. Grrr.

Tis the steering lock young man........otherwise cant help.

Just out of interest though which risers did you buy? I also seem to remember reading that you ordered some TT stuff. How long did delivery take ?

Rushy - thanks for the pointer re steering lock. Risers are 20mm from TT, but am on the verge of sending them back along with the radiator hard part. I quite like the look of these risers; a damned site easier to fit as you only have to remove the handlebars. No messing.

I blinged my bike up with a mix of BMW and TT parts. I was lucky as all the TT stuff I needed was in stock in Germany so delivery was only a cpl of weeks.

Plus a bendy steel gear lever from ebay (link on this forum somewhere).

Think I have probably gone over the top with the BMW engine guards as well as the large TT bash plate, but too early to tell.

Glad I went for the BMW rack as provides handles to drag the rear end around.

Was quite funny to see that the Chain Guard is a KTM component !

Given up on the radiator hard part; doesn't fit. Tolerances are too tight around the welding on the frame. That's going back.

Search for "bar risers" on the dreaded ebay. There are sets on there for about £20 which fit without removing bolt A. Hard to describe without a pic, but they fit into the bar clamps, IYSWIM.

Wow , looks like you ticked all the boxes ...........:p

I've got the bits in red and the bits in green I bought cheaper alternative versions of ...........then I ran out of money :D

The Rox risers were the ones that I was considering but I believe the 20mm TT one's can make enough of a difference....

Personally i'd have said you might be better off sending the engine bar set back and swapping for the carbon parts that protect the engine cases. Looking at bikes that are used quite hard they take a beating from your boots and loose rocks. I've been agonising over buying them because although they are probably a good idea they are also fekking expensive from TT, I've looked around and nobody else does anything similar for less dosh.:(

You won't need the BMW Engine Bars and the TT large Bashplate

Carbon covers a good for boot rub, but I haven't needed them

Enjoy........................:thumb

if you do fit the TT bar risers, you want to make a note of the longer TT bolt size and keep a few spare bolts handy. As soon as you drop the bike, the bolts bend and your handlebars dont point straight ahead anymore.

Am on my third set of bolts!

Any yes they are a pain in the nuts to fit unless you remove the forks.

I love the TT large bashplate. Its earned its worth, with a ton of scratched and scrapes on the sides.

Did not get and have not needed the brake disc guard
