Hi Any one know anthing good or bad about a 97 Aprilia Pegaso? Thinking of one for a winter hack /fun bike

Aprilia built the BMW F650 which is the similar in many ways
1997 was the upgrade year [USD forks, new frame, 2-1-2 exhaust and bodywork].
spares availability is not good.
engine good
MCN liked it-
Aprilia Pegaso 650 (1997 – 2004): long-running, highly-respected, dual purpose motorcycle. On-going tweaks have kept it in touch with (and often ahead of)opposition motorcycles in road tests. The looks aren’t ageing too well though.
Aprilia Pegaso 650 Trail: off-road motorcycle with higher seat, more ground clearance, more suspension travel, spoked aluminium wheels and slightly different geometry & brakes.

Had a m reg one good overall bulletproof not much protection though and front end a bit flighty as i remember :D that was before the wife and kids came along

wow!

i think they are a bit more perky than the f650 as they had 5 valves as opposed to bmw's 4 valves
my mate flipped his over backwards when it was 1 week old-he thought it was "perky" as well :augie

I have had a couple of these bikes in the past and they are in my opinion highly underated...

An ideal bike for runs around the lakes or trough of bowland.......a B road beast..

Now got my hands on the rare as hens teeth Tuscany tibet raid version...

The newer XT engined bikes are terrible. Very unreliable with lousy build quality. I have one, bought it to pattern parts for but it's just an awful machine. The older ones were good though, the 97 was the best but you pay for the better performance at the pumps. The Cube was a better bike, not as good looking.
