Not sure whether this is the correct place so mods, please feel free to move it.

My son Rory has always been mad keen on motorbikes, his mother less so. For his eleventh birthday I wanted to let him try motorcross so after persuading the War Department, I made a booking with Mark at www.mxtryout.co.uk.

We arrive at 9.30 at a very cold and misty Wildtracks, just outside Newmarket and surveyed the machines on offer:

Really getting excited ...

Ready to go:

Rory started on the smallest bike as he had never ridden before - a 49cc Kawasaki. All the bikes have the same switchgear with a semi automatic clutch:

Once he had mastered the controls, it was ready to go:

A few circuits and Rory was ready for a bigger bike - 85cc

Rory then moved on to the bigger circuit to try ramps and gear changes on the bigger bike

As you can see, the conditions were far from perfect for a complete beginner but Rory managed to master the ruts on the bigger course with the help of Mark's expert tuition.

All in all, a great day out - three hours of one on one tuition with the bike and all safety equipment for £90. I am pretty sure we will be going back, perhaps when it is a bit dryer.

Many thanks to Mark at www.mxtryout.co.uk

Nice one, Rory :thumb2 (and Charlie).

Thanks for posting it up and for the links. Would seem to be 'Good value' for anyone with kids who wanted to do something similar :beerjug:

They cater for adults as well as children. The minimum age is seven (plus a minimum height).

Top value day out and one seriously knackered son!
