Steptoe,

I'm up for that anytime you arrange another!

Are you a Lawrence 'fan'. I'm in the T E Lawrence society and regularly go to Clouds Hill and around there.

Amazing - About to get a GS - I join the forum today and find stuff about Lawrence already. It a sign !!!

Dave, calm down. We've done this run a few times now HERE'S an old one, including some fords.

And another, visited Milton Abbas on the way, and had a brough waiting for us when we arrived - ride report at the end.

About time we did another run soon.

Will also do another beginners off road day, which is always popular. Example ( 37 turned up , limits on the next day ) and a very good day

Lets have a good 2008

Amen to that St. Eptoe.:bow

Post of the year so far. :clap

All you fekkin whiners and moaners take note - this is what the site's all about

Neil - book the 08 Lawrence run for towards the end of May :thumb2

If you get a chance have a look at the engraved glass in the Church of St Nicholas
"This church was a normal little church with the usual amount of local history attached to it until it was hit by a fleeing German bomber in WW2.

Once rebuilt, the stained glass was not replaced – instead a series of spectacular engraved glass windows were created by Laurence Whistler. Not only are the windows themselves world famous and a sight to see in their own right but the transformation of the inside into a place of light and space is magical."

Another place to go - the church at Wareham

05.htm

There is a life sized effigy of Lawrence there sculpted by Augustus John after Lawrence's death.

If the church is shut you go to the gents outfitters on the main street for the key and let yourself in :D

Thats almost opposite the churchyard where L of A is buried, next to the lane that leads to the ford.
I was in that very church for a harvest festival service a few years ago :augie Don't ask.

Lawrence

The church is definatly worth a visit, possibly preaching to the converted but in Lawrences book "The Mint" covering his years incognito in the air force there is a vivid discription of him racing a Bristol fighter along the road back to the camp, he riding "Bonarges" his SS100 Brough Superior. Reckoned to be the best discription of a motor cycle ride ever written ( before GS's and
tossers were borne). Rumour has it that Steptoe was riding pillion but this has never been proved!.
Dave ( now calmed down, dont get out much)GS.
