I have a 2008 R1200GS. I am considering either the full dealer fitted BMW Navigator 4 (£700ish fully fitted) or a Zumo 660 with the Touratech mount to fit myself (£550ish). I am a complete electronic novice however.

Is it easy to hardwire a Zummo 660 into my bike? If so, what do I need?

Any really good step-by-step guides anywhere online?

For wiring the power dead easy. Many threads covering the detail but mainly its buy a special plug/cable that goes in the bike's satnav socket by the oil cooler and connect it to the satnav. Plug cable from Nippy Norman, BMW dealers and others.

For audio out its as easy or as complicated as you want to make it. Easy is a Bluetooth headset such as a Cardo bolted to your helmet. Harder but still not exactly rocket science is a hard wired audio hub.

Just done the exercise on my wife's new 650GS. Bolt on satnav, connect to power, fit Autocom audio hub complete with connection to satnav and bike to bike radio with PTT switch on bars - about hour and a half.
