Are the 147 hairpins really really worth it??? or does any body know of better?

IMHO its a little overrated. The Italian side is bumpy and the hairpins are not that interesting. The "famous" view which you see in all the photo's are its claim to fame. There are many, many fantastic passes that are much more satisfying particularly in Switzerland/Germany/Austrian side of the Alps. To be honest in my experience, you could spend a month in Switzerland alone and ride some breath taking roads.
