Have seen a couple of 1150 RT for sale
and was wondering what to look out for

I have read about clutch problems on 1100 do 1150 suffer the same?
I have also read horrendous stories about the ABS pumps going AWAL

The bikes I am considering are around 15 to 20.000 milers

I have a bit of a soft spot for these bikes and prefer the look of em to the 1200

Does any one have expierience of both 12 and 1150

I am thinking of keeping this next bike for a while In fact I expect this will be my last bike.. next year the big 60 :rob and a bus pass

Spending cuts ...what bus pass:blast

Relax!!

They are awesome bikes.

Usually owned by B.O.F.s so well maintained.

I've had zero problems in 12 years and 63,000 miles on an 1100RT.

Clutch may fail (I'm on my first) if the bike has been used mainly in the city.

The fairing can hide a multitude of sins - have a good look around inside.

Personally I prefer the brakes and gearing of the 1100.

Most need a revamp of the shocks and headlight.

Otherwise you can find a good bike, well maintained for under £3k. Perfect!

Clutch problems on 1100s?

It my be one of my replies you are referring to, regarding the expense of replacing a clutch. (not the cost of the clutch, the cost of such a repair in a BMW garage.)

The clutches in either 1100 or 1150 are actually reliable, it is only the labour costs of a repair which will hurt.

If you are competent to do your own repairs, or have an aquaintance who can do so, do not be put off by clutch faults.

If buying, do a drag style standing start when the bike is good and hot. It is important that it is hot, since oily clutchrs only slip then. If clutch is ok at that point, have no fears.

Buy a good one and ride the live out of it. They are brilliant.
