Rode the Stelvio last week in high winds and torrential rain for the 1st time and obviously due to the state of the weather........we couldn't see much of the famous view.
The way up from Bormio wasn't too bad for surface and bends........but the 'paved' Stifeljoch side was crap...........surface poor and bends too tight

Here's a pic of me amd Andy Malton at the bottom in the 'grim conditions'

Here goes..........for the week....
Campanile - Cambrai, France
Campanile - Pontarlier, France
Hotel Schweizerhof - Andermatt, Switzerland (2 nights) Cheapish rooms £26/ppn, but very outdated decor - 70's and food good, but pricey
Hotel Enzian - Landeck, Austria - Good
Haus Schonbuhl - Todtmoos, Germany - Southern Black Forest - Good

Thanks for that,
The Hotel Enzian looks good, biker hotel; did you meet the yoga girl in the white knickers?

If this is the place, it even has a ‘fix it corner’, very good!

The Hotel is great........garaging for about 35 bikes........a hydraulic bike ramp/ compressor/steam cleaner..........plus a 2004 Tiger to test for £10/day (donated by Triumph) and a Husky 610 Supermoto for £7/day to test.
Plus the full range of Schuberth Helmets/Daytona Boots/Rukka Goretex suits to test for a day FOC

Pic of my bike in their 'lean-to' garage

How did the GS perform at that hight?

A couple of weeks ago I was riding a HD 1340 softail at 3600 M and it was gutless

The GS1150 performed ok.....Greg, without hesitation

softees

for our trip over on wednesday it was snowing!

the way up there were parts that were off road - the road graders had been through and removed all traces of the tarmac.

I was there on 4th July. Here is the view down the Valley looking East in Italy.

The GS Adventure performed extremely well despite the altitude at over 9000ft. The Descent to the Swiss border was unsurfaced, woohoo!

Another good thing was that there were no Swiss border guards trying to hustle us for the 'EXPENSIVE' Auto-route pass, heh, heh!

Admiring the view from lower down:
