Would love to know the story behind the "neck" bit. Looks like its been used for a mooring or something.

It's a Layer of boulder clay below a stone of Lime or quartz
The clay erodes faster than that above it and gives that effect of the "head" on a neck
You porbably will find a wee collection of pebbles/rocks in the grass around it from when they are washed out to the stage they fall out
