just a quick one for you. what way is the best way to give other GS'rs reference points to visit. not sure on the best format. have an awesome gps but its normally the same format we use in the army. i can change it but not sure what to change it to??


any help guys???
 
...an expert may be along in a minute, but I think it depends on what Satnav is being used.
For Garmin I would save the file as a Garmin GPS Database (.gdp) and post that in a thread... but no idea about other GPS systems.
 
If posting routes I normally provide the following formats:

GDB - for Garmin users
ITN - for TomTom users
GPX - a relatively generic format
AXE - for MS Autoroute
Google Maps link - for those without a GPS

These can all be created quickly from ITN Converter having imported your original route from any of the above (except Google Maps) and may more besides.

Obviously if I know who's picking it up and what sat nav they have then I just provide the relevant formats.
 
if it's just point and not routes/tracks in the UK, I would have thought normal OS grid ref would do it

If not then post up what your GPS reads in and let us know the format and we can work it out
