On your way up from Izmir, if you have time (early start from Izmir will give enough time for these and to get to Canakkale) visit Foca (for breakfast), a coastal town just north of Izmir, then Bergama (ancient Pergamon). Assos is also worth a visit, here. But if adding this I'd add a full day altogether. Each of these places is well worth adding a day to your trip for.
