Anybody planning to do the Jumbo Run this year?

For those who don't know it is a marshalled run taking handicapped kids out for the day in sidecars.

This years destination is the Black Country Museum. The date is September the 12th.

The run leaves from a site near birmingham airport.Camping is available but is a bit noisy.

Yes thats the whole point.

They need up to 400 marshals to stop the traffic at road junctions to keep the convoy flowing.

We have police escort and back up. When the convoy passes your junction you tag onto the back of the convoy and join in.

On arrival you get free entry to the museum and then do the sme for the run back.

It's a brilliant day but you will get sore arms from waving to so many people.

Used to do the Jumbo every year until I moved back to SE Kent. Great day out andf you get a feeling of helping out and giving something.

Amazing how much the kids enjoy their day out. I had to marshal a (big) kid and it was chaos when he threw his apple into one of the enclosures the year we went to Twycross Zoo!
