Funduro/gs restricted?

Hi, Sons just passed his test and wants a bigger bike. As he is only 18 he is restricted to 33bhp for a couple of years. Can the 650 funduro or GS be restricted easily to 33bhp? I am told the R850R just needs a plug in chip for about £20 to restict the power, as this is done on the continent. Is there similar item for the 650?
Or any other serious suggestions for a bike to go for? cost of course is an issue. Thanks, Dave

My wife has just had her restrictor taken off her 54 reg 650 GS. Easily done, just a couple of bolts to take out so you can change a plate which moves the position of the throttle cable on the "carb". That's all that needs doing.

I love the Funduro. Very under-rated machine. I was chatting with a breaker once and he was moaning that he has loads of F650 engines because people give up on them due to minor faults they think are not financially worth repairing while the engines just never give up.
