I have completed just over 2K miles on my GS since July brilliant. Quite a change from my previous K1200RS. Howeevr to date 2 hours is enough on that seat. Anyone else have this trouble or is it my old whatsit playing up?

You'll find that Mel on this forum will assist you:

He takes the seat cover off, cuts down the standard foam, inserts a "gelastic" pad and then recovers it like new. Apparently very comfortable once done.

I don't find the unadjustable, low seat particularly comfortable, and two hours is about my limit without a break. I had planned to get a specialist upholsterer to fix it, or buy the Wunderlich ergo low (lower than the BMW low seat) adjustable seat. Or both.

First day I did 16 hours with about 2 hours of breaks running it in. Next day it had it's first service so only about 50 miles. Then two 500 mile days riding from Warsaw to the UK, followed by 4 days of between 3 and 5 hours.

No discomfort whatsoever.

But, then, I found the stock seat on both the KRS and the R1150R very comfortable over long distances when others don't.

Seems that Beemer seats suit some very well and others not at all.

Same as that

I find that it hurts at the top of the leg where your leg meets your bum I think it could be sweat because it dont happen when I wear gore tex winter trousers ??????????????

Thanks guys. I envy some of the mileages that you do, I'm still a wage slave unfortunately so its a weekend activity.
Seat is improving. maybe I'm becoming a GSer slowly.

For info, regular checks of shaft drive for any sign of play all negative so far.
