Ridgeway question

Are you out trail riding this weekend 27, 28, 29 Aug

Just got some knobblies on my GS and keen to try them out. Based in Reading.
 
What's a 'firetrail' ? (serious question) is it created by fire?

I could well be wrong but I think in hot wooded areas they put breaks between the trees to stop forest fires spreading. And they are normally shale style tracks that are a blast to ride on. My old MX mate Jiff from NZ used to rave about them. Apart from the time he met someone coming the other way at the crest of a hill and managed to break a few bones.

Thanks Fred, seems like it's a term not used in Britain, not heard of it/them before.
