I may have the solution to fitting aux lights to the 1200. Not tried it yet but I think it will work. Using the usual relay to switch the battery to the lights as standard but use the power supply to the GPS under the tank to trigger the relay. There must be tolerances in this feed to account for different gps units. So it should not be affected when used to trigger the aux lights relay. This feed is also ignition switched so no problems leaving the lights on. Try it later see if it works and let you know.

I have wired two fog lights, relay triggered from the low beam wire; two driving lights, relay triggered from the high beam wire. It all works perfectly. Just make sure you don't make any electrical connection to the chassis. You need a twin cable + and - from the battery to the relay and from the relay to the lights. The lights cannot be grounded to the chassis. There is plenty of tolerance for the relays.

Some EU countries allow 80W/100W lamps so the PLC will be set with quite a bit of lattitude, the Yellow escort bikes at the Olympics for the marathons all had two aux driving lights fitted so a standard install will work ok for lights.

Saw them lights you are talking about Jim. Thought they look just what I want. More of a driving light than an additional main light.
Might give them a miss have a look at the price. €179.80 are they taking the pi55

I got these from Halfords for my Fazer, for 50 quid - they are quite small and light so could probably be fitted to the GS pretty much anywhere. The beam pattern is quite short range though, so not much good as "driving lights" - but better than nothing.

The lights shown above...were they driving or fog lights. Touratech calls their single a driving light and the others fog lights. If these are driving lights, does anyone know where they can be purchased?

Thanks,

Mouse....do they have an LED in the outside edges???

My local car accessory shop does them if they do...it's quite a distictive irregular shape.

Only 36 quid there ;)

The lights on the yellow 1200GS are from wonderlicht. Has anyone seen them/installed them or know where they can be obtained? I like the look but wonder if they put out a long range pattern?

Thanks in advance.
