tom tom tom wiring

Just bought a tomtom riderV2 for my 2001R1150GS which came with active charging mount. Whats the best place to attach the power cable to? should it have an inline fuse (none in box)? Saw on a forum somewhere that they'd wired it into a headlight on the grounds that it was switched/fused and close to mount.....is this a good idea? and if so which wire goes where? Thanks
