after reading all the threads about FD failure, HES wiring failure, general bits blowing up, snapping falling off etc, my '97 R1100RT with 64K managed to do a 1400 mile tour of Scotland over the weekend with out any problems! what the hell is wrong with it :D

fortunately all my Goretex gear failed to keep out the Biblical rain on Monday so balance is restored to the world :thumb

You can fix your reliable bike by getting a 12 and you can join the ranks of motorcyclests stranded at the side of the road doing valuable un payed research for BMW since they sacked their r and d dept. staff. JJH

Wait until you hit over 100k, then it's more of a when things wear out problem! Like for me the bushes in the gear lever failingandleaving me stranded in 3rd 80 miles from home!

I have 67000 miles on my 2007 RT12, still rides like a new one (although I did fit Wilbers at 32k)

Off to Black Forest & Switzerland in a couple of weeks on it, it'll be the 2nd time she's been there with me.
My 6 year old Rukka gear is still waterproof.
