Johnny, This stuff is distracting me from what I should be doing right now. ;)

I'm getting more and more interested in having a go at this after visiting my first classic trial last weekend and getting my first test ride yesterday...Thanks Mark. :thumb2

The only question is which bike to look for or try to find other bikes to test before commiting. :nenau

Bike choice is tricky

Yams are reliable, can be good starter bikes - but finding a good one can be more difficult
Honda TLR's are expensive and not a lot of work to be competitive
If I was choosing Spanish it would be a Bultaco
Fantics make the best Twinshock bikes

Good luck with your choice Paul, it doesn't matter how you start and how good you are, nobody gives a toss at a trial

I prefer riding modern Trials bikes though, I rode the originals 30+ years ago:blast

You can ride a modern bike at some classic events (I've ridden at Aqueduct before)or a twinshock at a modern/normal trial, it's doesn't matter a jot

Bloody great fun:thumb

hi mr jb

going to keep my ty 250 mono now it should serve me well for how & what i intend to use it for.
but going to need lots & lots of practice :D
i may look a fool at times on it but i will be a happy fool :blagblah
best regards. Ronnie. :beerjug:

Now that's worth knowing but I now wonder why Timolgra on his Fantic didn't finish ahead of earthmover on his TY this year. :nenau

...it doesn't matter how you start and how good you are, nobody gives a toss at a trial

I could see this last weekend: a lot of sweaty men in pyjamas with big smiles gives it away, as does the tea and burgers after the last lap. :D

It's going to have to be a classic I think because I'll need something to sit on from time to time. I can't see me giving the same TLC to a modern bike as a classic and, I defintely couldn't do that static-turning type of stuff that the youngsters do these days. :rob It's good to watch on the telly but I like a bike with charisma.

Keep posting the video links...:thumb

No worries Paul

With a lot of Trials it depends whereabouts you are - North Wales & Lancs has a good Twinshock scene

Over here it's modern bikes that predominate although some people ride twin-shocks on the same courses

With trials it's more about the rider than the bike
