blue down pipes

Anyone know of a fix to polish out the blue colour on the downpipes of my bonnie ( also the discolouration on my s.s. pipes on my GS.)

I think i have sorted the overheat by sorting out the AI emission set-up on the Triumph but left with the discolour

Is there a paste, accompanied by copious quantities of elbow grease that will improve the look?

A tube of solvol autosol per tankfull of fuel solves this problem.

I've heard that solution is particualy effective if you then do not use the tankful - especially if that's done from new

Or you can use SolVol with 000 grade wire wool, but ultimately, the blue/discoloration will come back very quickly.

I have T100 with blue pipes (and GS but pipes on that are so old and covered in road dirt have no idea what colour they are underneath). Always considered bluing of down pipes a sign that bike is used as it should be. If you are really bothered set of Raask double skinned down pipes will do the job for around £300 plus postage from Sweden.

I like the blueing on chrome but not so keen on the tarnished look of stainless. Dont go mad polishing chrome - all too soon it will be rubbed right through.

This stuff is supposed to clean it off but it will be back during the first run out.

Have them vacuum stoved if they are just stainless and not plated.
