After a few hours riding bike started misfiring at top end, gradually getting worse until it barely ran. It would fire a little, then die then fire a little and so on. It could just about bumble along on the flat but hit an incline and it'd not get up. Had to get towed up the hills!

Comments from those on the ground on the day point to the injector. Is there a thread or a video anywhere on how to clean them.

Have ordered the Rally Raid kit to replace the tiny Philips head screws and will have a dabble with it at the week-end.

Any pointers / other ideas much appreciated.

Tnx, Mike

Drop Loz and Louisdut a line, they have campaigned the 690 for a while and have experience in the 'stoppers'.

Mine did exactly the same a few months back.

it was a dodgy plug cap which was also getting wet.

Not lost faith in the brand, just that bike.
its my trusty 625 SXC for the TAT:thumb

So it turned out to just be the corrugations around the fuel line from the pump inside the tank had failed, allowing the fuel line to collapse and kink, cutting off supply. Simple splint, couple of zip ties and a 50p fix.

Spend about £150 on injectors and so on en route, but handy spares to have.
