I saw a program on TV the other night about so hanging lakes I thimk it was in Croatia the place was Plevitsa or something and now can't fing any trace of it. Any clues it looked like a fantastic trip from here. Any Clues?
Also another fine one on coast near Split form memory (going) that has some fine limestone (and cimbing if so inclined) lots of camping nearby and worth a visit in area. Fine Country(s)
This is the one I went to, '87, very nice place - lots of walking climbing etc plus the campsite I was in was next toa naturist spot (though that wasn't all an advantage ) http://www.paklenica.hr/En/index_en.html
It's near the other one - have a look at the gallery - you pay to go within.......the park that is
Went there in 2004 and only did the very easy bits! The programme showed so much more.
A route down there takes you through Slovenia (now part of the EU) and into Croatia (started on the negotiations) so they are very welcoming. Euro accepted all over the place. Noticed that our insurers have added Croatia to the list of 'included as normal' countries, so you should have few problems. Worth doing some caves while you are there. I'd recommend http://www.park-skocjanske-jame.si/ rather than the more popular http://www.postojnska-jama.si/.
The roads are great for a GS... Unfortunately we were in a car... Coast roads are busy and twisty while those inland are much less busy. Tourist levels are nowhere near pre-war levels, but you won't be the first there by a long way, as the Europeans closer to it than us are already going back...
