Restoring plastic:

If the plastic is scuffed, before the heat gun treatment you can sand it with fine grade paper.

Another of mine is that De-icer is a good and cheap alternative to penetrating fluids. Buy it in the spring when stockists are off-loading it cheap. It works because the viscosity of the alcohol (or ethanol, whatever it is) allows it to flow into what gaps exist, it also evaporates rapidly and that helps to break or loosen the corrosion.
 
Here's a quick one ..

This is a useful solution if you're cleaning, prepping, blasting or painting an item that has treads you need to protect but don't want to use bolts screwed in all over the place.

In this case I didn't want to spray over my Banjo Bolts or bleed nipples.

I use disposable foam ear plugs, They're quick, cheap and simple!

The best bit is that they expand to make a nice seal even in a hole without any thread!
